CoronaVirus and the Therapy Intensive.
We set off to St Louis on Sunday, March 15 amidst the breaking news of the CoronaVirus. This was the week of our therapy intensive at St Louis Children's Hospital.
Day 5: St Louis Children's Hospital Therapy Intensive
Welcome back guys, to our last update of Kellan's Intensive Therapy Week. We had a very good time. It was very different considering the circumstances across the nation(COVID-19), but besides that, we got to the hospital and Kellan did what he had to do every day and he got better each day. And me and Marsh, we learned new things each day, which is always a good thing.
Day 3: St Louis Children's Hospital Therapy Intensive.
Matthew and I have a little interesting story to share. I met Matthew about a year back when I brought Kellan to St. Louis for one of his initial therapy intensives. And when booking our Air BnB I saw one of the neat things to do in St. Louis was take a podcasting class. And so that is how Matthew and I first got to meet Matthew. Your company says called Audius Prime Studios.
Day 2: St Louis Children's Hospital Therapy Intensive
Today's session was pretty cool. We got to try out a new piece of equipment. It's a Ben Trunk support, which basically is like a weight suit which K puts on, and that gives him more control of his body and gives him more support so that he was able to work better with his crutches on different types of surfaces. We also got to do some handwriting with Ms. Tori, his OT on how to form his letters.
Day 1: St Louis Children's Hospital Therapy Intensive
Today we are in St. Louis, Missouri. I'm joined by Drake Box who's here to help us as we take Kellan to St. Louis Children's Hospital for his intensive.
Horses! An Effective Therapy Tool?
These city slickers knew nothing about horses! I researched the benefits of horse riding for children with cerebral palsy, but it wasn't until Dr Park from St Louis Children's Hospital recommended it, that I jumped into action!
Tri-My-Best Triathlon
Tri-My-Best Adaptive Triathlon is why we continue to bust it day in and day out... The home exercise program is a challenging routine but once a year Kellan gets to see the benefit of exercising and maintaining his physical fitness. Yes! and it's gratifying as the parent to see the hard work pay off.
My First 19 Years With Cerebral Palsy
In this interview with Drake Box we chat about growing up with cerebral palsy. I met Drake at a local grocery store and later at the outpatient physical therapy clinic I worked at. I believe that Drake's experiences will help inspire and motivate parents and provide valuable insight into raising a child with a disability.
