Travel Blog: Embracing the Unexpected and Facing the Unknown.

What a wild week!

Coronavirus panic has erupted. Keep it simple guys: Wash your hands; sneeze or cough into the crook of your elbow, if you are sick stay at home but above all else remain calm. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a good resource for up to date information.

We are making plans to travel this Summer. Staying the course, doing our research and remaining positive. This resilience is courtesy of special needs parenting 101. It's when you learn to take one day at a time and one step at a time. Who knows what the Summer will bring but we not going to sit and wait, we going to read and dream.

On Wednesday I produced an intro for my interview with Aaron Schlein on Family Travel Radio. The podcast is titled: Embracing the Unexpected and Facing the Unknown. Thank you Aaron for this opportunity and planting the idea of Kellan doing the intro and outro. Hey! You are right, these kids listen to us more than we realize sometimes.

Marsh Naidoo (00:11):

This is Marsh Naidoo and I'm here today with Drake Box and Savannah fan. This week was a really exciting week. I've got to talk to Aaron Schlein from Family Travel Radio, so I'm gonna go ahead and attach a link to that podcast. The episode we collaborate on is titled, Embracing the Unexpected and Facing the Unknown. It touches on how traveling has impacted my life from my early years backpacking through Europe. It also talks about how we travel with Killen accommodating for his cerebral palsy. Aaron Schine is based in California and his podcast is part of Family Travel Association, which advocates for taking family time off and traveling with your kids. Whether it's a day trip to the zoo, Disney, or a cruise, it doesn't matter. What matters is getting out there to build memories with your kids. To paraphrase, Aaron you brought your kids into this world now show it to them. So please give it a listen. Savannah fam is more like family. She's helped us babysit, killing, and she's here with us today. Hi Savannah.

Savannah Pham (01:31):

Marsh Naidoo (01:32):

<laugh> Savannah. What has been the most interesting part of babysitting? Killing

Savannah Pham (01:36):

Everything. Learning new things.

Marsh Naidoo (01:39):

Savannah Pham (01:44):

We like drawing and painting and practicing writing and reading. He likes to read books.

Marsh Naidoo (01:52):

Savannah headed with us to St. Louis last year when we went for our intensive and that was quite an experience as we booked into the Airbnb. Do you remember when there was that storm and we had to run down to the basement?

Savannah Pham (02:07):

Yep. But there was windows down there.

Marsh Naidoo (02:10):

<laugh>. What was your favorite part of that trip that you can remember?

Savannah Pham (02:15):

A lot of it was fun learning new things with his therapy, stuff that was interesting and just hanging out. We went to the zoo and we got ice cream and we ate at, Was it a Thai restaurant?

Marsh Naidoo (02:28):

Yeah, the Thai restaurant. That was pretty neat. I like that. That was really good.

Savannah Pham (02:32):

And just seeing the town was interesting.

Marsh Naidoo (02:35):

So we are gonna be heading back to St. Louis next week from the 15th to the 20th of March for another therapy intensive at St. Louis Children's Hospital. And this time Drake Box will be going with us. Drake, are you excited sir?

Drake Box (02:54):

I'm beyond excited. I'm, I'm ready to get to St. Louis again with you guys and see what this trip can all be about.

Marsh Naidoo (03:01):

What's your plans when you are in St. Louis, what you've got planned for yourself?

Drake Box (03:06):

Well me personally, I plan to go job shadow at Shriner's Children's Hospital. I have a pretty deep connection with them and that's my end goal for my career. So hopefully I can have a good experience there and make good relationships. That can last quite a while.

Marsh Naidoo (03:22):

Marsh Naidoo (03:47):

So Drake is gonna get some of his practice podcasting skills on what are you up to, Drake?

Drake Box (03:53):

Well I've had the idea planted inside my head that I'm gonna start my own podcast. So trying to get it up and running and we gotta figure out a name. I don't know why, but that's like the hardest part for me right now. But once we get that done, I can get it started and get it on out

Marsh Naidoo (04:06):
