Teens:

  • Gifts related to self-care and body image. Experiences centered on grooming and self-care.

    SELF-CARE AND GROOMING

Teens love money, food, and gift cards. I recommend buying experiences related to self-care for teens: makeup lessons or hair care items. Many of the teens I work with have difficulty with hair care and make-up. In the past, I also recommended parents take their teens to trendy retail stores and ask the sales staff to show them how to put three trendy outfits together and give them a gift card to buy their clothes. That experience is very empowering for the teen. I also have asked parents to step back and give the teen that space.

  • I also advocate customizing a teen space, which genuinely impacts their self-image for all cognitive levels. Zero Gravity Bean Bags with floor or lava lamps that change colors.

  • Sensory-focused items. Lovevery range at Target.

  • Tech gadgets such as smart speakers for entertainment and assistance- I love Amazon Echo.

  • Tactile puzzles can create an immersive sensory experience. These are visually captivating and offer different textures and interactions, catering to a teenager’s tactile and visual senses.

  • Items that align with hobbies like music, gaming, or art

  • Seating systems – Yogibo and different massage mats and tools
